Robert Plant — best known for his work as the lyricist, songwriter and lead vocalist for Led Zeppelin has added a Jan. 21 concert date at Ann Arbor’s Hill Auditorium to the tour dates listed on his website.
After the break up of Led Zeppelin in the early 1980′s, Plant began several high profile collaborations. Plant co-wrote three solo albums with keyboardist/songwriter Phil Johnstone. He also began several collaborations with fellow Led Zeppelin singer Jimmy Page that bridged a time until 1998.
Plant then began a series of tours with bands including Priory of Brion and The Strange Sensation. Following those tours he recorded and performed with bluegrass star Alison Krauss.
On 8 February 2009, Plant and Krauss won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Pop Collaboration with Vocals, Country Collaboration with Vocals, and Contemporary Folk/Americana Album.
In July 2010, Robert Plant embarked on a twelve-date (summer) tour in the United States with a new group called Band of Joy (reprising the name of his very first band in the 1960s). The group includes singer Patty Griffin, singer-guitarist Buddy Miller, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Darrell Scott, bassist-vocalist Byron House, and drummer-percussionist-vocalist Marco Giovino.
Ticket information is listed on Plant’s website as “info to come,” and final ticket information has not been made available as of the writing of the blog.
